Discovery platform
2 minute readLocal Brew
Find your next local. A discovery platform connecting Perth’s cafes, roasters and coffee culture with the people who keep it moving.
The brief
A city of good coffee. Easier to explore.
A favourite cafe is rarely just a pin on a map. It is a neighbourhood, a particular roast and a reason to return. Local Brew brings those details together so people can explore Perth’s cafes, roasters and events with more context.
The product serves two audiences. Visitors need useful discovery; venue operators need a clear way to manage their presence. We treated both as essential parts of one experience.
- Discovery for locals and visitors
- A home for roasters and events
- Participation for venue operators
- Unite both audiences in one ecosystem
The identity
Warm enough to feel local.
A friendly visual language gives the platform the feel of a good neighbourhood recommendation. Coffee imagery, approachable copy and clearly grouped information keep discovery inviting.
The art direction combines the ritual of coffee with the practical tools of a guide. It creates a recognisable setting for a product whose real value comes from the places and people it introduces.
Discovery
Explore the way you think.
Search and map views support different kinds of discovery. Someone nearby may start with location; someone planning a weekend may begin with a venue, a roaster or an event.
Dedicated pages give each result room to explain itself. Consistent information and account features help the visitor move from a broad search to a short list of places worth visiting.
- Search across the local scene
- Explore by location
- Open a dedicated venue or event page
- Move from broad search to a short list
Participation
A listing with someone behind it.
The business workspace gives operators a separate place to participate. Venue claims and verified manager access establish who can act for a business, while moderation supports the quality of the public directory.
That relationship matters as the platform grows. A listing has an owner, changes have a process, and the public experience has an operational foundation.
- Venue claim requests
- Verified manager access
- Moderation and review
- Keep listing ownership clear
The foundation
Design the ecosystem, not just the directory.
The useful part of Local Brew sits in the connections between discovery, detailed content and business participation. Each route supports the others: a visitor finds a place, a venue keeps its presence useful, and the platform gives that relationship structure.
The result is a foundation for a local discovery service that can develop alongside the community it represents.
- Public discovery and private management
- Consistent venue information
- A structure that supports ongoing curation
- Grow alongside the community
The result
A useful front door to Perth’s coffee scene, with a practical workspace for the businesses behind each listing.
Good work starts with the right conversation.
